4th graders practice vocabulary and the grammar structure “going to + verb”.
4th graders also sent pen pal letters to 4th graders at Sharon Springs Central School in Sharon Springs, NY. They got their first letters back with pictures of their new friends!
Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
Maya, 6th Grade:
During the winter break, I met Ayane on New Year’s Eve and had dinner with her and her family. We had crab, roast beef, gratin, and okonomayaki (Japanese pancake).
We ate Ozoni (Japanese New Year Mochi Soup) on New Years. The crab I had it with vinegar and soy sauce mixed together.
We also went to Bryant Park to go ice skating. However, unfortunately, we couldn’t’ because it was too cold outside. So instead, we decided to see the Christmas tree. The fountain there was frozen!
4th, 6th, and 7th Grade Student Work
4th graders in Ms. Singer-Zhou’s class shared their favorite holiday from their home country. Check out Chinese New Year, Festa Junina from Brazil and Christmas.
Ms. Connor’s Grade 4 EAL students read and discussed cultures and cultural symbols. Students interviewed family members about family heirlooms. Students then created a PowerPoint presentation to share about their family heirlooms and the significance it holds for them and their culture.
