Eisenhower and Jimmy Carter during 1950s to 1970s to modernize and westernize Iran. However, the Shah was opposed by many Iranians, especially Muslims who were very religious. The opposition to the Shah brought millions of people onto the street to protest and express their anger. As a result, the Shah and  his wife fled in January.

The relationship between the U.S and Iran became worse and worse.

Since the Shah came to U.S for treatment, the Iranians’ anger about the U.S achieved to a degree and caused a tragedy. On November 4, thousands of Iranians crowded into the U.S. embassy in Tehran, and  captured 66 American in the embassy as hostage. The hostage held for 444 days after the Shah died and were not released until t Reagan took the promise of the office. Since that, the relationship between the U.S. and Iran were getting worse, and the relationship still didn’t get better after the death of Khomeini.
